LIFE

google is now hosting images from LIFE magazine, so that means thousands of LIFE photographs in hi-res form, like the above image of ballet students standing in the window of the School of American Ballet in 1936. if you add "source:life" to the end of your google image search it will search through the LIFE archive.

Sweet Photographer

Wendy Bevans is a photographer i found on the blog granica monotremata.  she is an awesome contemporary photographer, who i believe is from new mexico.  her photography has the over exposed feel of so many old pictures hanging around my house. she uses models in a way that seem like so much shit out there right now, but it is all a bit twisted, which makes it so dynamic.  the way she uses the body against its environment is really intriguing.

/dissertation

that being said, i wish she would put out a book or something, because her shit is beautiful.  it reminds me of that book i randomly got from the strand by knut wolfgang maron, which was from 1908-1994

Check this...

Halston

The Steven Kasher Gallery, on 521 West 23rd St, is having a show of Bob Colacello's photography from his Interview column "Out."  The photos are a collection of the New York/beyond social nightlife inn the 70s and 80s.  Colacello was an editor at Interview and was constantly taking photographs of the beautiful and famous.  The show goes from June 12 to July 19th.  There are some really cool shows at this gallery, including a collection of photographs documenting the Black Panthers in the 70s, so you know I will be there, even though I am sad I missed their show on "True Norwegian Black Metal."  Boo.

Beautiful Photography, References, and More beautiful old photography

From the Library of Congress' Flickr 1930's-1940's in color.

From Sayama.Tumblelog, beautiful photos that are collected from around the internets that are pretty much in the same vein: ethereal.

I found this guy's image reference library, Reference Library.  Some cool shit.
